Senior Guy Session at the Colleyville Nature Center

Rutledge is truly an impressive young man. With a deep love for piano, speech & debate, and travel, I knew that we would have our hands full, capturing all sides of him for his senior session. That said, I think we both love a challenge, and this session turned out great!

Our session began at Rutledge’s house so that we could take pictures of him with his grand piano. While his fingers danced across the keys to his favorite songs, he lit up like a firework with happiness. That’s when you can tell that you’ve found your passion!

His living room was a bit too dark for my liking, so I set up a speed light for additional lighting. I’m always prepared with extra gear in case we need it, so I wasn’t worried about it in the slightest!

We captured Rutledge front-and-center, making this moment completely his in every way. As one of eight children in the family, this individual attention was an unusual experience for him! He certainly didn’t seem to mind, though!

When we wrapped up at his house, we headed off to the Colleyville Nature Center. I love this place! It’s one of my favorite locations to take seniors, so I’m glad that Rutledge went for it.

This place has everything from sparkling water to trees and rustic bridges! This kind of variety made his gallery look like it took hours to capture everything, but it only took about thirty minutes!.

Rutledge was so gracious and open to all of my ideas. With my guidance, he was soon able to look natural in front of the camera. He really wanted to make his mom happy with these, and he had a fantastic attitude the entire time!

As usual, I always suggest for my senior guys to wear at least one dressier set of clothes, and also bring a casual set that says, “this is me”. Rutledge opted for two casual looks: a green collared shirt for the piano shots, a blue collared shirt for the casual Colleyville Nature Center photos, and then a purple dress shirt with a blazer. He looked very cool using the blazer and sunglasses as props!

Senior guy sessions don’t have to take a long time, and they will produce incredible memories that will last a lifetime. I know that Rutledge and his family are going to treasure these forever. Congratulations, Rutledge!
