Engagement Session at LBJ National Grasslands

Last year, I had the amazing opportunity to photograph Haliegh and Alex’s engagement session! They also booked me for their wedding last October, so stay tuned for a post about that amazing day!

For this engagement session, I brought Haliegh and Alex to LBJ National Grasslands near Decatur, TX. This grassland park had everything we needed for a successful session! With the area just full of tall, beautiful pine trees, I knew that we were in for a treat!

One thing I hadn’t quite predicted was the appearance of a herd of cattle! The grasslands allow ranchers to graze their cattle on the land, and today we were lucky enough to have several nearby. They were super curious about our presence, and we kept an eye on them, too. One of Haliegh’s favorite pictures of the session was this one, with the cattle in the background.

At the time of the session, these two were newly engaged. They still had that glow about them, and it definitely shows in these photos! With every touch and glance, these two simply sparkled with newfound joy.

It was a particular honor for me to photograph these lovebirds because I’ve known Haliegh for years. She was a homeschooler alongside my own children and so we saw her and her family often. She was also one of my very first Senior Session clients, four years ago! Time flies by so fast.

I’m not sure if Alex surprised Haliegh with the engagement ring or if she did the picking, but either way, the ring was gorgeous and deserved to be highlighted!

These two were so loving and caring during their session that it wasn’t difficult at all to get them to turn up the heat. They weren’t too shy to give each other some genuine affection, and that connection made this session a 10/10!

Haliegh wanted the session to be cute, fun, and candid, so we delivered! I brought along some crystal champagne flutes and captured a toast to a successful engagement shoot.

This mini celebration was exactly what these two needed. After all, they had many hours of wedding planning to look forward to during the next several months!

Haliegh and Alex, congratulations on your engagement! The LBJ National Grasslands was definitely the right choice for this session. I know how much you two love trees and nature. I’m so thrilled to have gotten the chance to photograph your engagement and wedding! Thanks again!
