A Red Barn and Busy Bees

When the parents have busy work schedules and the teenage daughter has a busy school schedule, finding time for updated family portraits can be a challenge. However, when mom finds the perfect location and a date that works for everyone, it’s go time! Fortunately, the weather cooperated long enough for some sweet images to be taken of this wonderful family.

The Bob Jones Nature Center & Preserve, with its iconic Red Barn and Pollinator Garden, provided the perfect backdrop for this early fall photo shoot. The unseasonably warm weather activated the bees, who welcomed us to their garden as they were busy doing what bees do. They didn’t bother us one bit and we didn’t bother them one bit. I think they were just as thrilled as we were to be able to enjoy another nice day with our Texas sunshine.

My favorite moment during this session was watching Alison and Ashley pose for pictures together. With two daughters of my own, who are now both in their twenties, I cherish these fleeing mother-daughter moments. We moms want to hold onto our little girls just a little while longer, yet at the same time, we’re ready to see what the future has in store for their lives. Like busy little bees, our teenagers are busy doing what they do, so anytime we can slow down and spend time together is a moment to appreciate.

My second favorite moment was watching Randy adore the two most important ladies in his life while they were busy posing. He was actually the first to remind me to take their picture together!

I hope you enjoy these pictures. Don’t let the busyness of life with teenagers get in the way of preserving sweet moments of your family. While the teenage years may seem like they will last forever, the days really do pass quickly. Cherish the time.
