Family Portrait Session at Colleyville Nature Center

I’ve known Mike and Kim for over 20 years, since we are members of the same church. They have been teachers and missionaries in Kenya, Africa, for over 15 years! It was an honor to take their family photos.

As kids get older, it’s harder and harder to update family pictures because everyone’s schedules are so full. I always commend moms and dads for making it happen, even though it can be a hassle. It’s so worth it in the long run!

They were home for their one-year furlough, so it was the perfect time to update their pictures. In addition to being priceless keepsakes, the images from this session will be featured in their newsletters. How great is that!

For our family photo session, I took them to the Colleyville Nature Center, which is one of my all-time favorite photo locations. The nature center was practically empty, so we could take all the time we wanted.

There were so many interesting spots to check out! From rustic fences to stone benches, we had no shortage of beautiful spots around the nature center.

I packed my full-size reflector for these pictures amongst the trees. That way, their skin tones would appear as true to life as possible.

The Saums are simply the sweetest family around. Posing them was super easy, especially during the hugs! Their connection is so natural that you can just feel the love just by looking at these photos.

With lots of laughter, hugs, and jokes, we all walked away from this session happier and spiritually filled. God has shown up for them in many ways throughout the years, and it’s always so encouraging to hear how God has been using them in Kenya.

We loved catching up, reminiscing about old times and new. The kids have grown up so much since the last time I saw them, but they are becoming great people!

It was such a blessing to photograph you all! You’re in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you and all of your ministries!
