A First Birthday Cake Smash Session

First birthdays are a BIG deal and should be celebrated in a BIG way! Sweet Abigail’s mother wanted to start off the celebration with a Cake Smash session for her baby girl. When my kids were turning one, cake smashes were not a thing…at least not ones that were photographed by a professional! Nowadays they’re super popular and super fun!

Another fun aspect of this Cake Smash session was that Abigail’s dad baked and decorated her birthday cake all by himself! A man of many talents, he worked hard at finding the perfect recipe that would accommodate Abigail’s food sensitivities. This cake was no box mix! Plus, he experimented with different shades of pink for the frosting until it was just right. Being a polite and dainty little lady, Abigail gingerly enjoyed tasting the icing and a few bites of cake but saved most of it for her party later that day for everyone else to enjoy, too!

Abigail is the youngest of six kids in her family and she is completely and thoroughly adored by them all! I’m so thankful that Jennifer and Mario trusted me to capture this milestone event in their precious baby’s life. We had so much fun setting this up and watching Abigail’s personality shine for the camera.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’d love to hear your ideas for a photo session that captures your milestone moments, too.
