Murphy Family Photos at New Light Studio

Whenever I need a studio for a session, one of the first places I check is New Light Studio in Bedford, Texas. This has been the setting for many of my indoor photo sessions, and it was a thrill to be back with the Murphy family! Here’s a peek into their fabulous gallery.

My family sessions include entire group photos, smaller groups and pairs, plus individuals. I’m always so proud of families (moms!) who make the effort to wrangle their family together for photos. This time, we had grandparents, parents, and grandkids.

This extended family session was extra exciting because over half the crew were visiting from Scotland! The matriarch of the Murphy family, Elizabeth (aka Nana) was overjoyed to be in the states for the holidays and to have both her grown daughters and their families with her! This would be the first time all five of her grandchildren would be photographed together, too. How fun and special is that!?!? Heather and Chad are the locals (and sweet friends of mine) while Heather's sister and brother-in-law crossed the pond with Nana.

As you can imagine, we had a blast together! I guided them through some of my most classic poses and prompts, and they were laughing all the way.

The little boys with their adorable Scottish accents, Sawyer, Hudson, and Cooper, behaved so well. They were so polite and agreeable throughout the entire hour-long session.I know that having photos taken isn’t the most exciting thing in the world for them, especially when they’re in Texas for the first time, but they performed fantastically. Their older cousins, Skye and Logan, are pros at having their photos taken so they set great examples.

One of the key challenges of a studio session is time management. With a large group and numerous combinations to capture, careful planning was essential. Heather completed a detailed questionnaire beforehand so that I could prepare a clear shot list, ensuring that we didn’t miss anyone.

What truly stands out in family sessions is witnessing the dedication and effort families invest in capturing these moments. Time flies by swiftly, and it's heartening to see families coming together for this purpose.

In the end, this session became a celebration of family—bridging continents, generations, and creating timeless memories in the cozy confines of New Light Studio.

Thanks so much for giving me the chance to capture your memories! Your gallery turned out amazing, and I’m so glad that I had the chance to play a small part in the story telling of your sweet family!
